01 并列句
什么是并列句?
并列句是由两个或两个以上并列而又独立的简单句构成的,并由并列连词、逗号或分号连接。
并列句的分类
并列句可以分为以下4种:
1、并列关系:用and,as much as, as well as, both…and, neither, neither..nor, nor, not only /merely…but (also)等连接。
2、选择关系:用either..or, (or) else, more than, or, other than, otherwise, rather than等连接。
3、转折关系:用but, however, nevertheless, only, still, whereas, while, yet等连接。
4、因果关系:用accordingly, consequently, for, so, then, therefore, thus, wherefore等连接。
02 分号
什么时候用分号?
1、分隔没有连词连接的独立分句。独立分句间在语法上相互独立,语义上的联系也不够密切,不宜使用逗号,而应用分号分开。
(注:独立分句:由
主语和动词构成,表达了一个完整的意思,可以被单独作为句子)
例如:
you have saved my life;i shall never forget it .
你救了我的性命,我将永志不忘。
2、如果分句较长或分句内已含有其它标点符号时(句号除外),应使用分号,不应使用逗号。
例如:
his eyes closed, and sleep came over him; and as he slept, he dreamed.
他合上眼睛,睡意袭来。当他睡着时,做了一个梦。
3、两个独立分句间含有连接性副词(如therefore, then, thus, however等)时,也要用分号分开。
例如:
i think; therefore i am.

03 情态习语——be+不定式
“be+不定式”可用于以下几种场合:
①表示按计划、安排、约定、意图,或由于义务、命令必须进行的将要发生的动作。
例句:
we are to finish the work in two weeks at most.
我们最多在两周内完成这项工作。(约定、意图)
②用于报纸、广播,借以宣布官方或政府的决定、计划。
例句:
the line is to be open to traffic on october 1.
该线路将于10月1日通车。
③表示禁止、不许、该做或不该做的事,意义近似“have to, must, ought to, should”。
例句:
we are not to make any noise in the reading room.
阅览室内请勿喧哗。
④用于疑问句,表示请求、愿望或希望:
例句:
whatever am i to tell her when she finds out?
她发觉时,我该怎么对她说?
⑤表示可能性,意义近似can,may等,
例句:
happiness is to be found in hard work.
在辛苦的工作中能找到快乐。
⑥用于陈述语气的条件句时,强调按计划或安排的将来动作,表示一种可预期的结果或目的。
例句:
he will have to work harder if he is to pass his examination.
如果他想考试及格,就必须更努力地学习。
用于虚拟条件句时,表示一种不可能实现的主观设想。
例句:
if i were to be college student again, i would read widely outside my own field.
如果能再上大学,我就会广泛阅读本专业以外的书。
⑦“was /were to do”表示后来发生的事(即过去将来)或后来不可避免要发生的事,并且这后来发生的事与此事之前发生的事有联系,表示事态发展的结果。
例句:
they said good-bye,little knowing that they were never to meet again.
他们相互告别,不知道此后再也不能相见。
⑧“was /were+不定式的完成式”表示计划安排做某事,但未能去做,或对所指事实是否真正发生的怀疑,其意义为“本来打算”。
例句:
we were to have told you, but you were not in.
我们本来要告诉你,但你不在。
